Since 1939, TruEnergy Federal Credit Union (Formerly Washington Gas Light Federal Credit Union) has been a not-for-profit, member-owned financial cooperative. Every member owns an equal share of the credit union, allowing us to offer lower loan rates and higher dividend yields.

Our History
In 1939, a group of employees from within Washington Gas Light Company came together to assist various colleagues in making large purchases, receiving their charter as a credit union that year. This small group of employees could not have known that they established a partnership that would grow to serve thousands of members empowering them to achieve their personal and financial goals.
